Get to Know Me

Why did you become an attorney?

From the time I was 8 years old becoming an attorney was the only career I wanted.  I worked hard, graduating from law school at the early age of 24 to realize this lifelong goal.

What experiences (work and personal) help you to be a better attorney?

Just the magnitude and wide array of cases I not only handle on a daily basis, but that I have also tried is invaluable.  The healthy relationships and dealings with judges across Michigan in federal, state, and appellate courts have also been helpful.

What made you choose your primary specialty focus of law?

I did not want to practice in just one or two areas and "specialize."  Much like the judges cases are heard in front of, a good and intelligent attorney can "specialize" in countless areas by hard work and continued exposure to all types of cases.

What makes your law firm unique?

The reputation my firm and I have with the judges I appear before, and attorneys I go against.  Also the wide array of cases my firm handles with great effectiveness provides various services to many different clients in need.

Describe your ideal client.

One that works with me to put together the best possible investigation, preparation, evidence and case to go to the jury/judge we are before.

Describe your personal interest and hobbies.

I have a wonderful wife and 3 beautiful children that keep me busy, having coached their sporting activities for many years.  I also served as an NFL agent for several years to utilize my law degree, together with my passion for sports.

Describe your charitable activities.

Providing legal pro bono work at times for clients in need, donating items and services to foster care organizations, as well as groups for the needy or abused.

Continuing Education

I attend the CJA annual seminar each September put on by the Federal Defender's Office.  I also watch many presentations through on demand video feeds presented by ICLE each year and try to attend the seminars live when my court schedule allows.

History

Significant Cases

After a national search, I was selected to be the Plaintiff's counsel in what became known as the "Roe v. Wade for Men" case.  I have tried countless criminal matters up to and including numerous homicide cases.  I have literally tried almost every type of case ranging from real estate to domestic to business/civil to probate to criminal.

Accomplishments

Selected as a "Superlawer" 7 times by my peers, a distinguished honor given to less than 5% of Michigan attorneys.  Avvo rated attorney who has had the privilege of speaking at numerous trial seminars and other presentations during my career.

Previous Employment

After working at a small, local firm from 1996 to 1998, I opened my own practice which I still continue to run.
